The Dratshang Lhentshog Secretariat had the honour of hosting the inauguration ceremony of the first batch of the Monastic Exchange Programme to India at the Grand Kuenrey of Tashichho Dzong on 20 February 2026.
The ceremony was graciously inaugurated by His Excellency the Deputy Chief of Mission(DCM), in the presence of officials from the Embassy of India, representatives of the Zhung Dratshang, and the Dratshang Lhentshog Secretariat.
The first batch of the Exchange Programme comprises eighteen delegates from the Zhung Dratshang and two delegates from the Dratshang Lhentshog Secretariat, who departed for Kolkata, India, on 21 February 2026.
The Monastic Exchange Programme, generously supported by the Government of India, aims to strengthen spiritual learning, cultural exchange, and institutional collaboration between Bhutan and India.
The inauguration marks a significant milestone in the deepening of longstanding spiritual and cultural ties between the two countries.
